On August 25, Ubridge joined hands with the New Hope Charity Promotion Association of Gaozhou to hold the 2023 Autumn Scholarship Granting Ceremony at Guangdong Ubridge High-tech Zone Mineral Processing Factory, awarding the scholarships to 7 students with difficulties who were admitted to college this year. Chairman Mr. Li Lvhua and Deputy General Manager Ms. Feng Xiaoxia attended the ceremony and presented the scholarships to the students.
In 2019, Ms. Feng Xiaoxia learned on WeChat Moment about the poverty-stricken students sponsored by the New Hope Charity Promotion Association of Gaozhou, where her high school classmate Luo Haihua worked. Some of these students are children of single-parent families, some are left-behind children brought up by empty-nest elderly people, some are orphans without parents or those whose families have suffered major changes that have led to poverty... The disadvantaged family conditions and the lack of guaranteed living expenses were causing these children with good academic performance at risk of dropping out of school. Ms. Feng Xiaoxia took the initiative to learn more about the situation and immediately expressed her intention to provide living allowances for these students in difficulty and support them to continue their education.
Therefore, from September 2019, 22 poverty-stricken students with both good character and good academic performance were selected by the New Hope Charity Promotion Association of Gaozhou after strict screening and home visit verification. They were provided with a living allowance of RMB 1800 per person per term by Guangdong Ubridge New Material Technology Co., Ltd. in a timely manner, and will be subsidized until they graduate from high school. Moreover, when Ubridge gives out holiday welfare gifts to the company staff during the Mid-Autumn Festival and Spring Festival every year, Ms. Feng Xiaoxia also arranges holiday greeting gifts for these students in need!
Up until 2023, a total of 132 poverty-stricken students have received financial assistance from Ubridge. The company has issued a total of RMB 390,000 in living expense support for poverty-stricken students.
From 2021 onwards, for the recipients who take the college entrance examination in the year and are admitted to higher education institutions, Ubridge will also grant RMB 8,000/person for those admitted to undergraduate colleges and universities, and RMB 5,000/person for those admitted to specialized colleges. This is to reward them for living up to expectations and achieving success in the examinations and to support them in starting a new path in life on the university campus. At present, a total of 22 recipients have been admitted to university education, with a total of RMB 149,000 scholarships issued by Ubridge.
Up to now, Ubridge has granted living expense support and scholarships totaling RMB 539,000 to the poverty-stricken students introduced by the New Hope Charity Promotion Association of Gaozhou.
“A poor person should strive to be resolute and not lose their noble aspirations.” affirmed Chairman Mr. Li Lvhua. He congratulated the sponsored students for overcoming difficulties and finally achieving success, and encouraged them to work hard in their future university life for further education and comprehensive development, and return to their hometown after completing studies to repay society.
‘From graduating from high school to entering my third year of college, I have grown from a young girl with low self-esteem and confused, taking one step at a time, to a college student who can now see the future and grasp it. This is because I am very lucky to have met Ubridge and New Hope Love Promotion Association. In the future, I will use the knowledge and skills I have learnt and my actions to repay the society, and like the volunteers, I will help more people in need and bring hope to them as well.’ Gong Jiemei, a sponsored student of the Class of 2021 who is now studying at Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, said when she came back specially to attend this event during the summer holidays.
“One can never forget the help and kindness delivered in the hardest time. Students from poor families like us know the value of basic living earlier than others. When we were worried about tuition and miscellaneous fees and faced with dropping out of school, it was the caring people in society who extended a helping hand to us and gave us the confidence to continue our studies.” Recipient student Yi Jieyi expressed her gratitude as the representative of the recipients admitted to colleges. She received a letter of acceptance from the South China Normal University with a high score on the college entrance examination this year. She said with deep emotion that she will continue to work hard and repay the love from society with better performance in the future college life.
